"Young Naturalist" Celebrated Its Third Anniversary
On October 3, the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the public organization "Young Naturalist" was celebrated in Ashgabat. The celebration was attended by representatives of public organizations, higher education institutions, embassies, and the media.
As Leyli Shyhmedova, the director of the "Young Naturalist" public organization, noted in her opening speech, the primary goal of the organization, founded in the fall of 2022, is to contribute to ensuring environmental safety in the country. It also aims to raise public awareness, particularly among youth, about nature conservation, the preservation and restoration of natural resources, flora, and fauna, as well as to support and encourage youth initiatives for the rational use of natural resources.
To date, the "Young Naturalist" public organization has organized 35 environmental events, 73 training seminars, 17 different competitions, and 7 excursions to nature reserves. It has also published 91 informational materials in the media and planted about 30,000 tree seedlings across the country. The organization now has more than 70,000 members.
During the event, the results of the creative contest "Young Naturalist: Green World, Prosperous Future," launched jointly with the editorial office of the "Watan" newspaper, were announced. Participants in this contest submitted articles, poems, prose, and works written in various genres that had not been previously published in the press or submitted to other competitions. The winners of the contest — Mukam Bekgylyjov, Maral Batyrjanova, Ogulgerek Atayeva, Rovshen Shikhberdiyev, and Ogulgerek Zakirjanova — were presented with memorable gifts by the organizers.
The culmination of the event was a ceremony for burying a time capsule under a tree sapling that will be planted in front of the organization's building. The capsule contains a message that will be opened in 10 years.
