Winners of the “Why Is It Necessary to Protect the Ozone Layer?” Competition Awarded in Ashgabat

On October 12, 2026, an awards ceremony for the “Why Is It Necessary to Protect the Ozone Layer?” competition was held at the International Scientific and Technological Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The competition, open to university students and 10th–12th grade pupils of secondary schools across the country, was jointly organized by the public organization “Yash Tebigatchy” (Young Naturalist) and the Ozone Center under the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.

The competition aimed to raise awareness among young people about protecting the ozone layer and to encourage innovative initiatives aimed at building an environmentally clean, reliable and sustainable future.

The ceremony was attended by I. Yakubov, International Cooperation Specialist of the “Yash Tebigatchy” public organization, specialists from the Ozone Center under the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, and several volunteers.

During the ceremony, participants were reminded of the importance of protecting the environment, including the ozone layer, and of young people’s active involvement in public life. The winners were presented with commemorative gifts and certificates of honor.

Winners:

1st place — Madina Yhtyyarova, 12th-grade pupil at Secondary School No. 13 in Lebap Region (prize: tablet);

2nd place — Aynur Durdyyeva, first-year student at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen State Institute of World Languages (prize: Bluetooth speaker);

2nd place — Merjen Atayeva, second-year student at the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan (prize: Alice smart speaker);

3rd place — Mahriban Orazberdiyeva, 12th-grade pupil at Secondary School No. 5 in Mary Region (prize: headphones);

3rd place — Ayna Badakova, third-year student at the Turkmen State Agricultural Institute (prize: headphones);

3rd place — Merdan Bayramov, student at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan (prize: headphones).
