Turkmenistan delegation actively participated in "RES 2026" Regional Environmental Summit in Astana

The Regional Environmental Summit "RES 2026," held from April 22 to 24 in the capital of Kazakhstan, successfully concluded with the active participation of the Turkmenistan delegation. Throughout the three-day international event, representatives from various national agencies engaged in discussions regarding the environmental future of the region.

The delegation included representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Environmental Protection, Agriculture, Education, and Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, as well as the State Committee for Water Resources. Additionally, the summit was attended by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, the Director of the Project Office of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia in Turkmenistan, representatives of the FAO regional office in Turkmenistan, and the Chairperson of the "Young Naturalist" public organization.

Within the framework of the summit, the Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan participated in a ministerial roundtable on climate investment in Central Asia. During the session, he emphasized the significant importance our country places on climate change and sustainable development. According to the ministry's official website, priority areas identified included the establishment of early warning systems for climate risks, the development of a climate project portfolio, and cooperation in adaptation, environmental monitoring, and sustainable natural resource management.

This international summit serves as further evidence of Turkmenistan’s consistent efforts to promote "green" diplomacy in the region and ensure sustainable development.
