Turkmenistan’s youth learn to balance environmental and economic priorities

An educational training session, organized by the OSCE Centre, dedicated to the art of public speaking recently took place in Ashgabat. The central theme of the meeting was the promotion of the economic-environmental agenda—a vital direction for the country’s sustainable development. The lecture was attended by 50 students from leading universities specializing in economics, international relations, and ecology. This is reported in the Center’s press release.

During the event, an international expert taught future specialists the fundamentals of effective communication. Students learned how to skillfully structure presentations on complex issues of economic and environmental sustainability, adapt terminology for different audiences, and use digital technologies to maintain listener engagement.

Special attention was given to practical skills: participants, including SDG Ambassadors, prepared short speeches in groups on current topics bridging ecology and economics. Such sessions help young people confidently argue their views and lead discussions on important matters of national development. As noted by Rune Castberg, Programme Co-ordinator of the OSCE Centre, this is another step in strengthening the potential of youth in line with the national priorities of Turkmenistan.
