The Creative Meeting "Woman and Nature" Held in Ashgabat
On the eve of International Women's Day, on March 3, the capital's International Science and Technology Park hosted a creative meeting titled "Woman and Nature," organized by the "Young Naturalist" public organization. The event was organized with the technical assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project in Turkmenistan, "Support to the process of updating the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) of Turkmenistan," as part of the country's commitments under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Climate Agreement.
During the event, which brought together forty participants, representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan delivered speeches. The attendees emphasized the pivotal role of women in shaping the ecological culture of society. A special atmosphere was brought to the event by the participation of honored guests — female specialists in the fields of education, healthcare, and mass media, who shared their professional experience and personal perspectives on environmental issues.
"In our country, the role of women in society remains invariably high. Woman and nature are inseparable sources of life and beauty. Our main task is to reinforce this harmony in the minds of young people and foster in them a caring attitude toward the environment," noted Leyli Shikhmendova, Head of the "Young Naturalist" Public Organization.
UNDP experts and young eco-volunteers discussed international climate change commitments and the implementation of joint projects. Members of the "Young Naturalist" public organization engaged in an active dialogue with the experts, receiving comprehensive answers to pressing questions. At the end of the meeting, a ceremonial presentation of commemorative gifts from the organizers took place.
The meeting served as an effective platform for exchanging experience and supporting the environmental initiatives of girls and women.
