Serdar Berdimuhamedov Proposes Establishing the Ashgabat Climate Dialogue
Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has put forward an initiative to establish the Ashgabat Climate Dialogue. The proposal was made at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku.
According to the head of state, the Dialogue should become a multilateral platform where countries can share experience and work out coordinated approaches to climate change adaptation, combating desertification and drought, the rational use of water resources, and the promotion of green solutions. Serdar Berdimuhamedov called on interested countries and international partners to support the initiative.
The President stressed that climate change and environmental security remain serious challenges of our time, and that Turkmenistan consistently advocates strengthening international cooperation in these areas. He also noted that it is important for CICA member states to join efforts in the rational use of water resources, the introduction of modern environmental technologies, and the strengthening of national economies’ resilience amid global climate change.
