Regional eco-film festival to be held in Astana: call for entries now open
The capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, is set to host a major international environmental event. As part of the "RES 2026 EXPO" International Exhibition of Green Technologies and Sustainable Solutions, scheduled for April 22–24, 2026, a regional eco-film festival will be organized. The official call for applications for this cultural and environmental forum has now been launched.
This festival is more than just a competition; it serves as a vital discussion platform for cultural figures, environmentalists, international experts, and government representatives to exchange expertise. The primary goal of the festival is to use the language of visual arts—including cinema, documentaries, and animation—to showcase the unique natural ecosystems of Central Asia, draw attention to contemporary environmental challenges, and foster a responsible attitude toward nature within society.
Directors, producers, and creative teams from Central Asian countries and other regions are invited to apply. The festival program accepts documentary, short, and animated films focusing on the following areas: Climate change and sustainable development, rational water resource management, biodiversity Conservation, ESG transformation (environmental, social, and governance).
During the selection process, special emphasis will be placed on the relevance of the theme, artistic quality, originality of presentation, and educational value for the public.
The event expects participation from leading international and regional film industry experts, representatives of film academies, and renowned producers. The host venue, "RES 2026 EXPO," is Central Asia’s largest professional platform in the field of sustainable development. It will bring together over 300 companies from 30 countries and approximately 20,000 specialists, showcasing the latest innovations in the environmental sector.
By playing a key role in disseminating information about ecology and sustainability, this festival aims to provide a new impetus for "green" initiatives across the region.
