The season is officially open!
Everything in its own time—and the mulberries have ripened right on schedule! Yes, friends, we are officially declaring the mulberry season open!
We call the tree itself the mulberry, and its sweet fruits — tudana. And while scientists may use "serious" Latin names like Morus alba or Morus nigra, to us, they are simply the most delicious white and black mulberries!
As soon as the fruits ripen, our city’s "noisy" guests appear—the rosy starlings (Pastor roseus). These birds are the ultimate "mulberry fans": they feast, chatter, and enjoy every moment of the harvest!
Mulberries are packed with natural sugars, protein, iron, and a full complex of minerals essential for our health. So, eat up and enjoy!
The mulberry tree is known for being sturdy, resilient, and incredibly long-lived. That is why, as the popular saying goes: "May your health be as strong as a mulberry tree!"
