Construction work halted in China for 50,000 birds
A wonderful example of biodiversity protection was demonstrated in the city of Yining, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. Around 50,000 rosy pastors (rosy starlings) chose a local construction site for nesting. To avoid disturbing the birds, municipal authorities decided to completely halt all construction work until August.

This step will allow the birds to safely hatch and raise their chicks throughout the summer. Special attention is paid to protecting rosy pastors because they feed on locusts and other dangerous pests, bringing enormous benefits to agriculture and helping to maintain ecological balance.

To ensure the safety of the birds, nine separate nesting zones were designated on the construction site. They have been enclosed with protective tape, marked with warning signs, and placed under strict monitoring.
