🦁 New residents at the Ashgabat Zoo: Four lions arrived from Kazakhstan
The National Museum of Wildlife of Turkmenistan has welcomed new inhabitants—two male and two female lions. The predators traveled a distance of 1.5 thousand kilometers; to ensure a stress-free journey, the animals remained under a medically induced sleep throughout the trip.
According to a museum specialist, the lions have already successfully woken up from the anesthesia and are currently undergoing a period of acclimatization. The "newcomers" are feeling excellent and have already taken a liking to the local diet: the four of them consume about 10 kilograms of fresh beef per day. Such animal exchanges between CIS zoos are an important practice that helps maintain the genetic diversity of rare species.
