An ecological term named the most beautiful word in the world
An international jury has selected the most beautiful word among the world's languages. In a unique project launched by the language learning platform Babbel, the top spot went to a term that deeply reflects the philosophy of nature conservation. The main title was awarded to the word "kaitiakitanga" from the language of the Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand, which signifies ecological responsibility.
The organizers analyzed 223 words from 75 languages that were most frequently discussed by social media users. A team of linguists, writers, and cultural experts evaluated not just the phonetic beauty of the words, but their cultural depth and ecological significance for modern humanity.
As the publication Bild notes, the winning word has no direct translation into other languages. This meaningful concept expresses humanity's moral duty to care for nature, preserve ecosystems, and protect the environment for future generations. In the Maori worldview, humans are not the masters of the planet, but an inseparable part of nature and its primary guardians.
