🌧️ "Oylanchi" rains (or the "White rain")
The spring nature of our Motherland possesses a unique feature that repeats year after year during the exact same days of May. This phenomenon is known as "oylanchi." In the "Explanatory Dictionary of the Turkmen Language," this word is given a precise definition: "A heavy rain that falls during the afternoon and stops quickly." Specialists confirm that this event occurs annually at this very time—starting from the first ten days of May until the very end of the month.
By the way, in our weather forecast at the beginning of the week, we reported that short-term afternoon rains were expected across the country. In rare cases, these rains also fall during summer days.
There are several characteristic natural properties of the "oylanchi" rains. Such rain is never cold. It does not turn into a mudflow torrent, and, even when heavy, it is absorbed softly and deeply, fully saturating the soil with moisture. People also call it the "white rain," as it gently cleanses the earth from dust, as if newly revealing the face of reviving spring nature, and, by generously hydrating the flora, brings immense benefit to the stability of the entire ecosystem.
When the afternoon rain subsides after claps of thunder, the sun breaks through brightly once again, and immediately following, a rainbow stretches across the sky. It shimmers with all its seven colors—red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, and violet—bringing joy to everyone who sees it.
Whether you call this phenomenon "oylanchi" or the "white rain," its beneficial impact on the environment is boundless. The fresh air washed by the raindrops and the rainbow shining in the sky bring a special, unique charm to the spring nature of our country.
