Anyuta’s Eyes (or Pansies)
The world of flora is striking in its diversity, with nature often creating intricate patterns on petals that resemble familiar images. One such remarkable plant is the Wittrock violet. Found in many corners of the globe, its various species are particularly widespread throughout the regions of Russia.
Due to the distinctive markings on its petals, this herbaceous plant of the Violaceae family is affectionately known by the folk name "Pansies" (literally translated from some cultures as "Anyuta's Eyes"). The flower delights the observer as early as early spring, showcasing a vibrant palette of shades ranging from bright yellow and red to deep purple.
Many legends surround the origin of this name. One tells a touching and sorrowful story of a girl named Anyuta: according to the legend, these delicate flowers grew on the very spot where she spent years waiting for her beloved, their petals forever capturing her gentle gaze.
